How and when to train?
- Build up: 2 times a day 30 intensive inhalations. Results after 4 to 6 weeks
- Upkeep: 2 times a day 30 intensive inhalations. 3 times a week.
Maintenance / Cleaning:
Detach mouthpiece- and manifold after each workout and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Let the mouthpiece – and manifold soak in warm water with a POWERbreath cleaning tablet, mild soap or detergent, at least once a week. The device itself may be cleaned with a (slightly wet) cloth , but further contact with water should be avoided.
If you have doubts about the applicability of the POWERbreathe in your situation, or if you have a respiratory condition, you can ask your general practitioner for advice. Respiratory muscle training as performed with the POWERbreathe is not recommended for patients with a history of spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung; not as a result of a trauma), because there is a possibility that the pneumothorax can reoccur. In case of a traumatic pneumothorax and / or broken rib(s), the POWERbreathe should not be used until full recovery has occurred.
Respiratory muscle training, as performed with the POWERbreathe, is not recommended to asthma patients regularly experiencing heavy and unexpected exacerbations. Respiratory muscle training, as performed with the POWERbreathe, is not recommended to people who recently have had a perforated eardrum. Respiratory muscle training, as performed by POWERbreathe, by persons younger than 16 years must be done under the supervision of an adult.
